West Cork native and Bachelor of Visual Arts, Mary Sullivan is a talented visual and performance artist. Based on Bere Island, an island engulfed in history and heritage, Mary’s work draws unique inspiration from her picturesque surroundings portraying many aspects of human nature that often go overlooked.
Island life has had a distinct influence on Mary’s work. As a Bere Island native of over thirty years, and having completed Dublin Institute of Technology’s BA Visual Arts on Sherkin Island, Mary is continuously inspired by the perceptions and realities of island life. The artist has also been fortunate enough to have been surrounded by an amazing network of artists during her degree programme, and was privileged to perform alongside Ireland’s renowned performance artist, Amanda Coogan.
Mary is heavily involved in Ireland’s art scene and has recently become known as one of Ireland’s talented up and coming artists. Upon achieving a first class honours within her degree programme, the artist has been in demand nationwide and has since been awarded the RDS Visual Arts Awards Taylor Art Award for her work.
