In 2019, I was awarded the Create Artist in the Community Scheme bursary with mentorship from award-winning artist Jesse Jones which allowed me to begin my project entitled 'The Hold,' with the women of Bere Island, exploring their role on the island, connections to place and the confinements and restrictions that we face as a result of where we live.
The funding for this project enabled me to work with the local community to develop a series workshops, discussions and dialogue.
To initiate the project, I gathered a group of willing participants who shared their time, stories and artwork with me. In 2021, we continue to work together to deliver this artwork to the public.
